Youth Arts Committee (YAC)

Helping young people create, perform, and connect through the arts

The Watson Art Centre's Youth Arts Committee (YAC) is being rejuvenated!

The YAC is an opportunity for young people in our community to come together, share their creativity, develop new skills, and help shape youth-focused arts and cultural activities at The Watson.

The committee has been quiet for the past few years, and we are excited to begin building it again — with new ideas, new members, and new opportunities for young people to get involved.

Stars of Tomorrow Youth Variety Night

One of the YAC's newest traditions is the Stars of Tomorrow Youth Variety Night, an annual celebration of the talented young performers in our community.

The first Stars of Tomorrow took place in spring 2025, followed by the second annual event in spring 2026. Both events brought young performers to The Watson stage to share their talents with family, friends, and the community. We plan to make Stars of Tomorrow Youth Variety Night an annual event and hope it will continue to grow as part of the YAC's programming.

But that is just the beginning!

We would like to see the YAC become an active and exciting part of The Watson throughout the year.

There are so many possibilities — youth performances, open mics, art exhibitions, workshops, theatre, music, creative projects, behind-the-scenes opportunities, and more.

Most importantly, we want young people to help decide what happens next.

Want to Get Involved?

We are looking for new YAC members, volunteers, and supporters who would like to help bring more youth arts activities to The Watson.

You do not have to be an experienced artist or performer. Whether you are interested in music, theatre, visual art, dance, writing, photography, technology, event planning, promotion, or working behind the scenes, there is a place for you.

Adults who would like to volunteer their time, skills, or experience are welcome too!
