    Affiliates

    Watson Art Centre Affiliate Members are community organizations, groups that have a vested interest in the arts.  They become members of the DDAAC and as such each have representation on the council to ensure that their needs are met.  In exchange for their involvement in the running of the council they have access to the facility at extremely reduced rates. Our Affiliate Members are:

    Bratstva Studios  
    Bratstva Studios is a newly formed adult Ukrainian dance peformance group of up to 15 members. Bratstva means brotherhood, a group of people, not necessarily men, who meet together as an organized group. The word Bratstva has a significant Ukrainian historical meaning, as underground groups in history met to discuss Ukrainian literature, politics and culture. The group practices each Sunday at WAC. Being new to the community, Bratstva Studios is currently working on two dances for its repertoire and does not have any upcoming events.

    Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival Inc.  
    Canada's National Ukrainian Festival (CNUF) office has the pulse of the Ukrainian heritage community in Dauphin. Aside from providing information regarding Canada's National Ukrainian Festival, the office is a retail store, providing a wide variety of clothing, jewelry and giftware, directly from Ukraine. CDs of many local Ukrainian musicians, as wells as past performers of CNUF are also available.

    Crocus Quilters Guild
    Crocus Quilters is a collection of quilt enthusiasts of varying skill levels gathering for encouragement, skills, workshops and friendship. The group meets on the first Thursday of every month, except July and August, at the Old Fire Hall. Annual membership is $15.

    Dauphin Art Group
    The Dauphin Art Group is one of the longest running groups at the WAC, with Dr. Vernon Watson, whom the centre is named after, the first to offer painting and drawing instruction to people from this area in the 1960s. Artist instructed workshops are structured for those who want to learn more about painting, drawing, colours, creative expression. Classes are held in the Old Fire Hall at the WAC.  Membership is $10 annually, due January of each year, and workshop fees are due upon registration.  To see their 2011/2012 workshop brochure, click here.

    Dauphin Glee Club
    Dauphin Glee Club runs Saturday mornings and afternoons in the ballet room. Qualified and eager instructors help children ages 6 to 14, to learn to perform musical pieces in a group setting, with a goal of public performance. Children and youth learn or review basic music theory and basic choreography, to popular and classic music selections of their choice. Call for information on classes and costs. All skill levels are welcome!

    Dauphin Pottery & Ceramics Club
    The Dauphin Pottery Club has been operating since 1967. The club is run on a drop-in basis where members are given access to the club’s hand building and ceramic facilities which includes kilns, ceramic moulds and a quiet place to work. In the pottery studio in the basement of the WAC, members work individually, attend workshops and offer programs for youth.

    Keystone Chorus
    The Keystone Chorus was formed 40 years ago. The traditional barbershop-style group sings four-part harmony, meeting Monday evenings, 7:30 p.m. at Parkland Crossing.  Membership is $130 annually and the Keystone Chorus presents an annual spring show, as well as various performances throughout the community.

    McHarg School of Highland Dance (Dauphin)
    Has been operating since April 2009 and joined the Dauphin and District Arts Council February 2011.  Providing Highland Dance instruction to members of the community from ages  three and over,  the McHarg School of Highland Dance  offers dance-outs, medal testing exams and competition opportunities to students.  All one-hour classes are taught by an accredited dance instructor at the Watson Art Center ballet room, each Thursday evening. The dance year runs from September to May with costs approximately $40 to 45 per month.

    Parkland Promenaders
    The Dauphin & District Allied Arts Council wish to extend their best wishes and gratitude to the members of the Parkland Promenaders who disbanded August 2011. The Parkland Promenaders have been a valued affiliate member of the DDAAC for 30 years and assisted with many of the improvement projects, fundraising and promotions of the council and Watson Art Centre. They provided active participation on our board over the years and helped lead and shape the organization. We wish them every success and extend our invitation for their members to continue to stay involved in our vibrant art community.

    Sche Raz as been operating for 4 years.  The club promotes Ukrainian Culture, particularily dance, for people 35+ years.  They meet every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the WAC auditorium.  Membership costs $150 per person annually.

    Theatre Amisk of Dauphin
    Theatre Amisk has been operating under its current name for 24 years (1986).  The club promotes theatre for adults in the Dauphin area and provides an opportunity for set design, costuming, directing, make up, etc.  They hold general meetings as needed and an annual meeting.  Theatre Amisk has an annual production (either play or musical) and are a sponsor for MTC’s annual production.  Membership is $5 per person or $10 per family.

    Zirka Dance Ensemble
    Zirka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble - consists of 2 groups:  The Junior level consists of Intro, Beginner, Novice, Junior and Intermediate levels. The Senior group consists of dancers that have graduated from the Junior level or have joined from other dance groups. Zirka Dance Ensemble continues to preserve and promote Ukrainian dance through their dance school, which begins accepting young and upcoming dancers at the age of 4 years.
